What Causes Swelling And Redness Around A Prevnar Shot Site?

About 4 weeks ago I had a Prevnar shot and had a reaction - large, about the size or a lemon redness, swelling in that area and heat coming off of the injection site. Two days later went back to doctor for them to look at and finally found out that the shot included Aluminum Phosphate - a preservative in frozen shrimp and I am allergic to shrimp. Since then the redness has of course gone away but I feel very slow , have on and off spurts of short sweats and just not up to par. Can this reaction still be in my body because of the reaction that I have to shrimp?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It would depend on if you are allergic to the shrimp only or the preservative used for shrimp.

If you are allergic to shrimp only then the presence of the aluminium would have no effect.

The symptoms that you are experiencing now may not be related to the your severe reaction so you may need to be reassessed.

I hope this helps
