What Causes Swelling And Redness In The Ankle Bone After An Injury?

My daughter got kicked on the right ankle bone, just where the guard doesn t protect well, on Saturday during soccer. no sign of injury that day. She finished her game. But then on Sunday she began to complain, with ice, and rest there is noticeable swelling, redness and it feels warm to the touch and her pain is precisely on the pointy part of the bone today. Could this be a fracture?

This could be a fracture and the only way to know is to visit your orthopedist and get an x-ray done.
However soft tissue injuries are also associated with swelling warmth and tenderness and you could get a topical antiinflammatory cream such as ibuprofen gel which could help with the pain along with frequent warm compresses.
