Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
While working this morning a large vein on the inside of my wrist began to hurt. The vein bulged, the surrounding area became red and swollen. The pain was intense. 8 hours later I still have pain, there is now a purple area on the wrist the size of a half dollar. I sustained no injury. Hand stiff and throbbing. I am a 56 year old female. Thank you.
Most probably it could be due to local inflammation or contusion.
As of now you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.
You can apply ice packs for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated. In that case an MRI scan is required for further assessment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
