What Causes Swelling And Redness On The Big Toe?

I was given a prescrip for MOBIC after I saw a podiatrist about the knuckle or bone above my big toes that get a bit sore and become red, swollen if my shoe rubs there. Not sure if I am getting more like a bunion than inflammed , and whether MOBIC could actually help that.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It can be a sign of arthritis possibly gout.

Consult a physician and check your uric acid status to make a diagnosis.

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
