What Causes Swelling And Redness On Toe?

My right big toe is swollen, red, dry and cracked. Toe nail has some yellow color. Not running a fever but toe feels warm. Once in a while I get a sharp pain In bottom of foot around my arch. Foot is not swollen and it is only big for that is cracked and peeling with puss

Hi.
As per your case history you are having nail fold infection called as paronychia.
My treatment advice is -
1. Wear loose footwear to avoid pressure on the affected part.
2 . Don't squeeze or scratch the affected area as it may worsen the condition.
3. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
4. Oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin along with oral NSAID like ibuprofen should be started only after consulting a dermatologist.
