What Causes Swelling And Soreness In Wrist?

I have been having troubles with my wrist for the lt few weeks, i fell over and hurt it, i thought it was a sprain at first but its stll been sore. I have been to the doctors a few times and they jst wrapped it up and gave me some painkillers. But it s still sore and swollen, and a bit bruised. what should i do about it???
