What Causes Swelling And Tenderness At The Top Of Vagina?
I m trying for a baby with my husband we ve been trying for a year ... I ve just had my period a few days early about a week ago and I ve been checking my cervix etc. Today the top of my vagina feels very swollen and a bit tender which has never happened before what could this be?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern about the swelling and tenderness at the top of vagina. This could be due to infected 'Bartholin cyst'. It happens sometimes when the openings of these glands become obstructed, causing fluid to back up into the gland. You can try 'Sitz bath'. It is soaking in a tub filled with a few inches of warm water several times a day for three or four days. This may help a small, infected cyst to rupture and drain on its own. You can take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin 500mg twice a day for 5 days along with anti-inflammatory analgesic tablet like Ibuprofen + Paracetamol combination twice a day for 5 days. Your symptoms should get better in about 3 - 5 days. All the best.
