Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling And Tenderness In The Abdomen?
My wife is not pregnant . In the last 4-5 weeks my wife s stomach has seriously swollen up. The stomach mass is hard to the touch and she has gained over 10 pounds. She is 4 10 and now weighs 125 pounds. She is diabetic but it is under control via medication that she has taken for years.
In the current scenario, I would like to know if your wife has any gastric-related symptoms like loss of appetite, acidity, indigestion etc., any menstrual abnormalities, any history of fibroids or ovarian cysts and any such relevant information.
The nature of the distension can be detected through a proper clinical examination followed by a sonogram of the abdomen and pelvis and if needed a CT/MRI. Further management can be planned accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam,
OBGYN
