What Causes Swelling And Tenderness On A Lymph Node Above The Thyroid?
I have a lymph node just cranial to my thyroid that gets swollen and tender just before and during the beginning stages of my period. Is this normal? I get annual ultrasounds on my thyroid, I do have small nodules. They told me the lump I feel above my thyroid is a lymph node. It s not on the sides of my neck but right in the midline above my thyroid. Thank you.

I suggest you to get thyroid function tests since small nodules are detected in your thyroid on ultrasound. In addition, I suggest you to get an fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of the swelling above thyroid. FNAC will determine the nature of swelling above the thyroid.
