Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling And Tingling Sensation In Left Leg?
I had a baby in 2011, during pregnancy I had to sleep on my left side often and now I have hip pain occasionally and just recently I have swelling in my left leg and tingling at times. Could this be due to the way I had to sleep and what can I do about it. I had ACL surgery in 2003 on my left knee as well.
The left side sleeping would have been to promote a change in your child's position while he/she was inside your womb.
No serious damage can occur due to this, and so there should be another reason for the presentation which in my opinion could be weight gain during pregnancy causing nerve impingement, sciatica, blood circulation abnormalities, side effect of some medications, I'll effects of the surgery (if a cesarean was conducted), etc. Please discuss this with your doctor.
Best wishes
