What Causes Swelling And Tingling Sensation In The Toes?

Was reading info pages about symptoms of gout. Have some periodic swelling, tingling and sometimes pain at large toe joint lately. What medications might inflame this condition, if indeed, it is gout? I only use linsinopril and amlipodine for BP. I also take some vitamins and supplements with meals.

Hello
Firstly if have gouty arthritis you will notice severe pain in big toe joint that starts usually during night and if you are hypertensive and have high uric acid then the diagnosis is obviously is Gout.
Treatment of gout has two components
1.For acute arthritis you will need NSAIDS or steroids for short period till pain and swelling settles.
2.For prevention of further episode you will need a drug that decreases serum uric acid which is usually either Allopurinol or Febuxstat, Febuxstat is better as it is given as single dose
You may also need to look for 24 hours urinary uric acid to see weather you are underexcreter or over excretor.

Regards
