What Causes Swelling Around A Mole Removal Site?

I had a mole removed in 2008 from my calf and the scar is quite wide. I was told at the time that my mole wasn t cancerous but also wasn t benign. I have noticed slight swelling around my scar (which is 8/9 years old) and it feels really bruised. There is bruising around and through it now too. Is this something to be concerned about? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The area of excision, healing time are issues best discussed with your chosen surgeon. In general terms, healing takes a few weeks. Swelling is one of the stages of the healing process as a result of a cut or excision. So there is nothing to worry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
