What Causes Swelling Around An Inguinal Hernia Surgery Site?

I had inguinal hernia surgery last nov 28th, and the 3x2 inch swelling at the incision site has never went away and the discoloration on left leg approx 4 inch diameter is still there as with the discoloration on lower stomach and penis and scrotum and my doc along with others thought my surgery was ok even though the ct scan showed the appearance of an incarcerated hernia after surgery. 5 months later with the pain from it 2 docs still felt it was ok, BUT, when i saw my doc he checked me standing up, and I asked why and why don t you check me when Laying Down and coughing, so he did, and saw the light, It ain t ok, and now going to have resurgery(arthoscopic) and he said if that doesn t work we will have to do a RE-OPEN surgery. Your thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As per my clinical experience, this is a failure of previous hernia surgery with extravasation of fluid in the subcutaneous spaces giving hematoma type presentation. I vote for the revision open surgery only against lap procedure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
