What Causes Swelling Around An Injection Site?

Yesterday I got my flu and pneumonia vaccines. Today, my arm is giving me a bit of a problem. I have a red, warm swollen spot at the injection site. It s about half-dollar sized. I am getting a stiff neck on that side, and I have pain in my shoulder, as well as a few rash like spots. Can this be an allergic reaction? I put Benadryl on the site. No relief. Thank you.

Hello, my name is Dr Olgeta Xhufka. I understand your concern. The swelling , redness and pain in the place of shot are one of most common side effects of vaccines. It will last for two days. You can take any ibuprofen to ease symptoms.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
