What Causes Swelling Around Eyebrow Injury Stitches?

Yesterday I slipped on some ice and fell on my face. My right eyebrow just about split wide open horizontally and required 8 stitches. There is a lot of swelling around that general area, and basically the whole upper right corner of my face is a giant black eye. Now here is where my concern lies. I m a heavy marijuana smoker, and it s actually helped a lot with the pain from this injury, but I would like to know whether the cannabis is having the same effect on my brain or not, due to what happened to me. I believe cannabis, when ingested, dilates the blood vessels behind and around the eyes. Being that there s so much swelling going on, I want to know if the swelling is increasing because I ve been smoking cannabis and therefore dilating and letting more blood flow through that part of my head. Basically, I would just like to know how my habit of cannabis use is going to affect my injury, if it even will.
