What Causes Swelling Around The Eyes Along With Dry Cough?

Hi, facial swelling mostly around eyes last 2 weeks, dry cough, and an episode of severe pain right side under ribs (top of abdomen) which led to profuse sweating, ringing in ears and passing out. Episode passed after few minutes, two days later still do not feel right. My hands feel heavy like I have gloves on.I take hctz/lisinopril , synthroid and lexapro all for may years. No recreational drugs , but to drink fairly often, not that day.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that it is important performing a comprehensive differential diagnosis between different possible causes that may lead to your symptoms: heart failure or increased fluid retention (renal or liver dysfunction), or a possible infection or inflammation.

For this reason, I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:

- a resting ECG and a cardiac ultrasound
- NT pro BNP plasma levels
- blood electrolytes
- a chest X ray study
- complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation
- kidney and liver function tests.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
