What Causes Swelling Around The Groin Area After A Hysterectomy?

I had a complete hysterectomy about a year ago. Also a mass removed from the bladder area that was not malignant. Lately I had vein therapy on both my legs that involved the poison to close the calf veins. Shortly after I noticed a swelling in the groin area. It seems bigger and hard like a bladder size. I just returned from China on Friday. I have an appointment next week with my oncologist. With a blood test and exam will she be able to see if lymphoma is involved,or infection, or fallen bladder? The internet has showed me the possible problems. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

You can consult a general surgeon and get an ultrasound scan done to rule out conditions like hematoma or seroma. Lymphoma is unlikely.

It can happen after varicose vein surgery because of hematoma or fluid collection at the surgical site.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
