What Causes Swelling Between Ribs In Liver And Abdominal Area?

My liver and abdominal area between my ribs swell when I consume red meat such as beef and too much pepper. I also struggle with food allergies and hives. I have had aa chronic epstein barr infection in the past. Could this be some kind of liver disease as result of epstein barr?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to the presence of the gas in the intestine. I suggest to do an abdominal ultrasound and a stool test for further evaluation. Meanwhile, I suggest to use a spasmolytic to relieve the swelling such as Buscopan 10 mg. I also suggest to use daily probiotics.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
