What Causes Swelling Between The Eyelid And Itching In The Eyes?

The area above my right eye between the lid and the eyebrow is quite swollen and discolored (like a hematoma). The eye is a little itchy near the tear duct. Is it possible I have a problem with the tear duct that is causing the large swelling and discoloring?

Hello,

The swollen and discoloured area above your right eye between the lid and the eyebrow similar to hematoma, if no history of hit or trauma, could be related to tear duct infection.

Please consult with eye specialist as soon as possible as you might need to take prescription medicines locally and orally. For the moment, I advise:

- keep the eyes well clean.
- wash with gentle baby shampoo (no tears) 1 part mixed with 5 parts warm water.
- rinse well.
- rinse with chamomile tea then.
- apply warm and cold chamomile tea compresses locally.

Although this advice, should consult with an eye specialist and discuss my suggestions with him/her.
