What Causes Swelling, Burning, Dryness And Tenderness Of Lips After Shaving?

hi i used a razor cleaned it with just hot water but did not sanatize I'm not sure if i used the blade for my genital area before but my lip became swollen and red and burning. then became dry and cracked slightly numb. if i moisturize it it dries up quickly and my lips are chapped and now beginning to be dry slightly cracked and turning dark in some areas of my lips and slightly tender as well... what should I do and what have i caused myself to have?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems like you suffered from Allergic Angioedema of the lips due to some unknown allergen leading to swelling and inflammation of lips and causing chapping and cracking of lips..
You need not to worry about it will get resolved..
You can take anti-allergics Levocetrizine or Benadryl for 3 days..
Take anti-inflammatory medicine like Naproxen..
Do cold compresses over the lips..
For dryness and chapping you can apply Petroleum jelly over the lips or beeswax containing lip balm..
Avoid licking or sucking the lips as it can cause further dryness due to moisture evaporation..
Drink plenty of water..
You can also apply Calamine lotion to reduce irritation..
In case if the same condition occur again consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can advise you to get allergic testing done to rule out the allergens so that he can provide you with an Immunotherapy to reduce the severity of symptoms..
