What Causes Swelling, Discoloration And Pain On The Lower Left Calf?

I have some swelling, discoloration, pain on lower left calf for two months. Ultrasound was negative for DVT. I am a breast cancer survivor and had a DVT several years ago. Very painful to touch. Becomes warmer with exercise. Not sure what to ask of my doctor during routine medication check in a few weeks. What could this be? I am 64, female.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for asking your question at healthcare magic

Since DVT has been ruled out in your case, I would recommend looking for cellulitis .Cellulitis is the infection of sk8n and oresents with pain, swelling and discoloration. Cellulitis require treatment with antibiotics.
Other possibility is Thrombophlebitis (inflammation of veins) which is treated with warn compress, leg elevated and non steroidal anti inflammatory drug like Ibuprofen.

I recommend that you consult your doctor at the earliest or go the emergency room .If cellulitis is the cause for your symptoms, treatment should be initiated immediately to prevent complications.

Hope I was able to answer your question
Please feel free to address any more concerns Regards,
