What Causes Swelling In Buttocks After An Injury?

I fell down some hard steps six days ago. I was fine until he next day when my buttocks became painful. Since then the pain has gotten worse and there has been more swelling but no bruising. I can t walk, sit or lie down apart from one position on my back with my knees bent. I went to the doctor two days ago and they prescribed anti inflammatory tablets and painkillers. It s swollen more since then and there are times when the pain is excruciating. Do I need a second opinion or should I wait it out?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you to do X ray of the pelvis better wold be if you do MRI. I suggest to do a blood count. I want to know if you are taking anticoagulants during this time. Meantime rest, elevate the legs and apply ice pack and take medicines doctor has prescribed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
