Thank you for your query.
Abscess is caused by a bacterial infection . The dead, infected cells along with other debris gets collected and forms and abscess.
Draining and cleaning the abscess is key to healing.
If any of this pus/discharge has gone into your eye, or if the cause for the abscess has affected your eyelid, you could have an infection of the eyelid as well.
This need to be treated as soon as possible as it may spread to the eye and its deep structures and come become seriously complicated.
Please see your physician/ opthalmologist right away to treat the infection and irrigate the eye to remove any contamination.
In the meantime, use clean wash clothes or sterile cotton and warm water to remove any debris, discharge away from the eye. use a new cloth / cotton everytime. Change your pillow cases, clean your eye wear and promptly clean away any discharge.
do not self medicate or use any OTC without consulting your doctor.
With timely and adequate treatment, prognosis is excellent.
Hope this helps. please get back to us if you have further queries.
