Hello there! Your description is suggestive of a condition called angio-oedema where one sees puffy eyelids with swollen lips that are numb or tingling. It is a kind of an allergic reaction. In most cases it isn t possible to identify a cause.It is sometimes associated with allergy to foods(nuts,eggs,milk,shrimp),drugs (aspirin, drugs for high blood pressure),insect bites etc. Some cases are linked to thyroid disease or other autoimmune disease like SLE. The most important point from the point of view of treatment is whether one feels breathless during an episode of eye/lip puffiness. In case you do you have to rush to the emergency room (ER) because breathlessness means the airways are swelling up. For cases without breathing trouble, a course of antihistamines & steroids helps.Most such episodes should get better within a few days.
