What Causes Swelling In Face, Ears, Arms And Feet?

What could cause swelling in the face, ears, hands, arms and feet? The person went to the Emergency room on Saturday, a couple days ago. They ran tests on him but as of today no results came back yet. They gave him benedryl to take incase it was an allergic reaction, but after 48 hours the swelling continues and is very discomforting. There is no fever, just swelling and blotches on his arms.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling in face, ears, arms and feet. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like standing for prolonged periods of time , taking certain antidepressants, such as tricyclic , blood clot , infection , venous insufficiency or organ failure like kidney and liver . Allergic reaction and serious heart problem can also cause such symptoms . I would suggest you to consult general practitioner for proper examination. Doctor may order kidney function test , liver function test , urine test along with checking vitals . Doctor may prescribe calcium channel blockers along with diuretics . Doctor may also refer you to nephrologist for kidney problem or cardiologist for heart problem . For now lower your salt consumption and keep your leg elevated while sleeping .
