What Causes Swelling In Finger After An Injury?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... How long should a jammed finger be swollen ?/ I jamed it two weeks ago then jammed it againa week ago .. I've been to the Dr and she wrote out a presciption in case I noticed it becoming infected . She said it is a crush injury ,not broken . It is red and the swelling is not going down at all. It is swollen underneath the ring finger , not on the top fingernail area .Should I go to outpatients and have it looked at again or give it more time ??
