What Causes Swelling In Hands And Feet?

My 6 month old son seems to some swelling in his hands and feet that I noticed about 3 or hours ago. I haven t changed anything, the only thing I can think that may be different is that he tried peas for the first time yesterday. He was diagnosed with a viral infection yesterday and has been fussy for about 3 days now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You are saying to first tried peas yesterday; while swelling in his hands/feet were noticed only 3 hours ago. So, it is not related to peas.

You should try to remind what you have given to him for first time today prior to swelling occur.

I also advise to consult his pediatrician as I suspect he might be having kidney problems. Usually, male children start to have urinary tract problems when they are 4 months old and older. This is especially true if they are uncircumcised.

You can check it out through :
- urine analysis
- abdominal ultrasound

Wish fast recovery!
