What Causes Swelling In Labia Minora During Ovulation?
Hi, I have an appointment with my gyno but its not for another month. My problem is at the time of ovulation my labia minor swells to 3 times its think ness and I can not touch any part of my vagina. To the point of crying when I wipe after a wee. It does not hurt or sting to wee just to wipe. I can have sex all though insertion hurts but once my husband has inserted I am fine. I used a mirror to have a look and it does go a red colour. This all lasts a week and half and then I am fine for a few days then my period starts. I have even having these issues for about 5 months now. Also my periods have changed drastically. I have PCOS if that makes a difference.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is not likely to cause swelling of labia minora. Swelling of labia minora appears to be due to local cause. Swelling can occur due to trauma, infection or inflammation of the skin of labia minora. Clinical assessment of the labia minora is required to know the cause of local swelling of labia minora. Thus, consult your gynecologist for clinical assessment and thus management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
