What Causes Swelling In Lips And Cheeks Of A Smoking Addict?

My brother has been a heavy cigar smoker for years and smoked cigarettes before this. Yesterday his lip and cheek swelled up. Is this from the cigar or could it be cancer. He already has had prostrate cancer. He threw the cigars out and said he is quitting but uses a fake cigarette now,. Is this a wise thing to do. thank YOU

Cancer grows slowly. Acute swelling with inflammation is more typical of infection. Prostate cancer can go anywhere although bone is most common. A fake cigarette that does NOT put chemicals into you is unlikely to do very much.
If swelling goes away it would not seem to be either a serious infection nor cancer but if it stays or gets worse it would require treatment.
