What Causes Swelling In Lower Abdomen With Flank Pain While On Augmentin?

I have knee surgery scheduled for Nov. 4 but was concerned my seasonal allergies were becoming a sinus infection. The walk-in clinic gave me Augmenting and when finished 3 doses of Diflucan. I took 3 Augmenting tablets so far and am experiencing swelling in lower abdomen and back pain near kidneys. I am 62 year old woman. Should I stop taking the Augmenting?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Augmentin is not known to cause muscle or joint pain. It can cause GI upset but should not normally cause swelling.

It would be best to determine if there is another cause for your symptoms before discontinuing the medication.

You should speak to your doctor about your symptoms.

I hope this helps
