What Causes Swelling In Right Thyroid With Difficulty In Swallowing?
I ve had my left thyroid taken out back in 1995 because of multi nodular benign cysts, the right node is still there. In 2004 noticed that the right node also had grown enlarged. Similar with left node due to benign MNC but they left it in. Been having neck aches for a few days and when I yawn or stretch my neck my left side of the throat (about where the thryroid used to be) starts to hurt. Other than that I m fine. I can swallow, talk, etc without issues. Any idea what might be wrong or if it could be a simple infection?
It may be due to thyroiditis or it may local throat infection. Get it done ultrasound scan of rt lobe of thyroid and oral cavity examination. Avoid cool drinks and do salt water gargling thrice a day. Use tablet paracetamol thrice a day for five days. If no improvement please consult with your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
