What Causes Swelling In The Ankle And Feet?

Hi. Its hard to admit this was a dumb idea on my part but a week ago I decided to get my initals branded on my ankle with a hot piece of metal. It looks to have gotten infected and I have been puting burn jel on it with a gause pad. Just now my ankle and foot has started to swell up. How can I get the swelling go down and get rid of the infection?
