What Causes Swelling In The Ankle With Flank Pain?

I am a 55 year old female. I had an EKG done last week and was told it was abnormal. I have since been referred to a Cardiologist for a Nuclear Stress Test. My left ankle is swollen from fluid retention as well as my back aching in the kidney area. Could this be due to a possible issue with my heart?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you may be having an issue with your kidneys which is possibly causing the edema in your feet and elevated blood pressure. I don't find it much related to a heart issue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
