General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

The swelling in your ankles and feet is caused by amlodipine besylate which is a calcium channel blocker. Its use is often associated with edema in the legs as in your case.

I advise to report this side effect of amlodipine to your caring doctor in order to change medication.

If this won't correct edema, then, a good evaluation of the blood vessels in your legs is recommended further by angiologist and Doppler ultrasound.

Hope this helps.
