What Causes Swelling In The Ankles And Feet?

I have swelling in my ankles feet and legs. Just a CT with contrast. I have been having a lot of problems with my asthma. Last fall put on 20 lbs, but my eating did change and I trying to loose weight. Seems My CT indicates edema in my lungs and possibly engagement of my heart. I am so tired I can t seem to get anything done. I am going for sonogram of my heart and stress test. They think possibly congestive heart failure. I have been researching it, I understand heart has to work harder. I have to watch fluids. Not clear of prognosis.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The presentation of narrated symptoms suggests that there is swelling in the ankles and feet related to decreased cardiac output and back up of blood returning from peripheries into veins, that is most dependent part of the body at feet.

Thanks.

Take care.
