What Causes Swelling In The Ankles?

I have a question about blood pressure. I'm male, 41 and have always had excellent blood pressure. Recently i've been developing swollen ankles in the afternoons so took some readings on a home digital blood pressure device. They show me as 195/87.....from a previous reading 2 years ago of 125/69. I've taken 6 readings this morning...all around the same level. No other symptoms, no headaches or pain.
