What Causes Swelling In The Buttock After Taking An Injection?

I gave myself a steroid injection in my right butt cheek 4 days ago. I now have swelling and redness about 4 inches to the left of the injection site and about 8 inches down. The swollen area is about 4 inches wide and 8 inches long running down the side of my leg. It is red in that area and warm to the touch. What should I do? Do I have an infection? I did all of the sterilization procedures prior to the injection.
