What Causes Swelling In The Eye After Injury?

I hit my eyebrow with a corner of a metal door 9 days ago . Eye was swollen shut and bruised the next day. Sweeping and bruising is better but I have had bloody mucus in my throat coming from my sinus all week. Sometimes it is dark and peas size and other times it is red streaks. Should I be concerned?

Hello,

The swelling and bruise due to the previous injury are getting better and it will take time to go away the swelling completely as well as the bruise and discoloration of skin due to injury.

Bloody mucus in throat is sign of mucosal injury of throat, irritation to the mucosa also results in presence of blood in the mucus. it can be due to an infectious cause.

I would suggest you visit your physician and get it checked once. As it’s there since a week so it’s important to find out the underlying cause behind it for proper treatment.

Along with physical examination and medical history( things like pain, smoking history or breathing difficulty), your doctor might ask you to get some diagnostic tests done.

Once the results come, he will be able to guide you further on the management of your symptoms.

If the cause is infectious then appropriate antibiotics should be taken which will help to improve the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
