What Causes Swelling In The Eye After Receiving Stitches Under It?

Hi, my 6 yr old daughter received stitches under her left eye about 24 hours ago.... she has had no complaints all day but as night time came I noticed some swelling... in the last 2 hours I ve noticed it to become worse. She has no fever and still no complaints but I m afraid she will wake up to her eye completely swollen shut. Should I take her to the ER now for possible infection?

I have gone through your query.Your daughters problem can be due to hematoma formation under sutured area.If there is pain and increased swelling better to approach ER.In case of hematoma formation it should be evacuated.
