My eyes started feeling swollen, "squinty" and dry a couple of weeks ago. I've never had seasonal allergies and am not sneezing, etc. My opthamologiest checked my eyes today, found nothing wrong, and suggested I may have allergies. Does this sound like a possibility and what over the counter medicine would you suggest.
swelling of the eyes is quiet different from squint and dryness of eyes. 1)By swelling of eyes if you mean swelling or puffiness of the eyelids then it might be allergic.cold compress might help .you have to keep a close watch to find out allergens causing it which may be cosmetics you are using or any food substance you consume ; so that you can avoid them.but in case of allergy it will usually be bilateral. if puffiness is more in morning then get thyroid profile and renal function tests done 2)For squint a thorough evaluation is required by ophthalmologists.
3)For symptomatic treatment of dryness you can use following:
eye drop refresh tears 4 times a day one drop each for 1 month.
For long term relief a thorough evaluation to rule out cause of dryness is essential
