What Causes Swelling In The Face?

My niece has lost a great deal of weight too fast. I suspect she is Bulemic. Can t seem to eat now, gags after one or two bites. Her mouth & checks are very blue, her face is swollen, the whites of her eyes are yellow. I m sure she is also alcoholic. She carries around a plastic drink bottle that probably has vodka in it. Speech is incredibly slow, she behaves as if she is fighting sleep. Says she has neuropathy in legs and feet. Has not seen a Doctor. Her appearance and behavior is shocking.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling in the face which occur when there is hormonal changes, stress and clogged pores of sebaceous gland filled with sebum ,dead skin and bacteria get infected. The symptoms can also occur due to allergic reaction , side effects of certain medicine or injury. Need not to worry. You should take Tylenol for inflammtion. Do tepid sponging if fever is increasing. Visit general physician once and get it examined and get blood tests done. Start treatment after proper prescription and diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antiviral/ antibacterial medications. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Do not apply hard cosmetics on face.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
