What Causes Swelling In The Feet After Taking Losartan And Amlodipine?

I am using Losartan 50mg twice daily and was prescribed Amlodipine 2.5mg once daily to augment the Lorsatan. Foot swelling resulted so the Doc stopped the Amlodipine and substituted a loop diuretric called Furosemide. I believe he chose the wrong one since I do not have heart failure. Plz advise.

Hi there

After going through your query I understand your concern.

I would like to tell you that Amlodipin belongs to Calcium Channel blocker group of anti-hypertensive drugs that has this common side effect of peripheral edema.

Your doc did the right thing by stopping amlodipin and putting you on a diuretic that will help in decreasing edema and will control hypertension. It's advisable to have faith in treating doctor and follow his instructions.

Hopefully this will answer your query.

Kind Regards
Dr Navneet Mahajan
