What Causes Swelling In The Feet And Ankles?

after going to a tropical region, the person noted a red rash on the foot with swelling of the foot and ankle. Antibiotics were given and the redness went away for a short period but comes back intermittently. The swelling reduces with walking but proceeds to swell again when not active

Here cause for leg edema should be searched for...

Hypoproteinemia, liver affection, kidney problem, lymphangitis, congestive heart failure etc are the causes

So according to your examination suitable work up is needed

Liver function test, kidney function test, serum protein estimation and EKG like investigations done according to need....

You might prescribed ibuprofen like anti-inflammatory drug along with antibiotic....

According to cause further specific treatment given

If allergy cause present reflected by Hugh eosinophila in CBC than fexofenedine like drug prescribed...
