What Causes Swelling In The Forearms After An Injury?

I fell and hit my forearm yesterday. I had it xrayed because it aches like a toothache and has some swelling. I previously had carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve repair 2 years ago in that arm. the doc said she saw a hairline fracture at the impact site. she took it to the radiologist and he said it was an old fracture. problem with that is I have never had a fracture before. I am confused.
