What Causes Swelling In The Knees After A Hip Replacement Surgery?

Husband had hip replacement surgery 6 weeks ago. Last week he was told he could begin to put more weight on his leg. Had PT one day and next day both ankles were swollen a lot. Swelling all the way to his knees today. Call out to the surgeon but no response yet. Is this serious and what can he do to get swelling down.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

As you have swelling after putting pressure over that leg. I will suggest you to consult with your surgeon. It may be due to some venous cogestion, but have to rule out. don't give more pressure over it. Continue physiotherapy as adviced. Give leg elevation, it may help you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Regards,
