What Causes Swelling In The Labia While On Medication For UTI?
I had a uti and the doctor prescribed me medication for it and i have been taking it every eight hours and i only have one day of medicine left to take and my clit hood and right side of my outer labia is swollen and hurts i took a warm bath last night and took some ibeprophen and it helped but its still swollen and a little bit sore is this normal while taking uti medicine??
I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.
Swollen labia could be due to yeast, bacterial or parasitic infections, Vulvar dermatitis, Bartholin's abscess or rough sex etc. As you already started your treatment for UTI, continue the same.
I would advice you to, 1. Maintain good hygiene and wash your vagina with soap warm water regularly. 2. Avoid feminine products 3. Use soft cotton undergarments 4. Have safe sex 5. Take Antibiotics for a week ( based on the underlying cause) if not taken. 6. Check you blood glucose levels 7. Oral contraceptives if any used, should be temporarily stopped.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.
Regards, Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
