What Causes Swelling In The Left Foot?

I have a left foot swelling. I had an x-ray about three weeks ago thinking I might have a stress fracture. I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and I am one year into a two year program taking Forteo. X-ray showed no fracture. Local doc said to take Aleve 2X daily for 10 days. No change, foot still swelling. Wearing Birkenstock shoes for the past 3 weeks.

Hello,

As I see in history there are no signs of fracture in the X-ray, I think you should check for uric acid. Sometimes the swelling can be due to that as well. As you are osteoporotic you need to be careful with your bones.

Bones can get stress fracture anytime without knowledge known as the pathological fracture.

Also, try taking more of the calcium content diet like milk products and calcium supplement too. Take vitamin D3 and also sunbath. Do regular low-intensity weight-bearing exercise.

As far as swelling is concerned to try taking hot water fermentation and keep the leg elevated. Usually, diuretic medications are prescribed by a physician if the cardiac and diabetic profile is found.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
