What Causes Swelling In The Leg After A Femoral Hernia Surgery?

It is two weeks after femoral hernia surgery and I have developed swelling in my leg.I didn t have pain after surgery but am concerned about swelling.I had an Ultra sound test and no blood clots. The doctor recommended a compression stocking for a few days.I wore it three days. However, now my leg still swells up a bit during the day.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be reactive edema due to minor injury to the lymph vessels. As the ultrasound has been ruled out collections, nothing much to worry about.

As of now continue compression stockings. You can take anti-inflammatory drugs like serratiopeptidase for faster recovery. Try to keep leg at a higher position while sleeping to prevent pooling.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
