What Causes Swelling In The Lower Abdomen After An Abortion?

Hi, I had undergone an abortion on aug 27/2016 when it was 7 weeks. At this time my lower stomach was a bit bulged. I followed the prescription advised by my doctor correctly. I was given two misoprostol tablets. With this, the products got expelled in just 8 hours. But later i had some Dark colour bleeding like discharge which continued till 4 weeks. Again I had my period on september 28/2016 which stayed for 5 days. Then again shockingly i had another period on the october 15/2016. By today I have crossed 2 months after my abortion, but still my tummy looks bulged as it was when i was pregnant. Can someone please advise if this is normal or how can i bring it back to normal.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult a gynaecologist and plan for an ultrasound scan.

We have to rule out possible causes like retained bits of tissues post-abortion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
