What Causes Swelling In The Neck And Tongue After A Dental Surgery?

I had some dental work a week ago. I was healing fine but in the last 2 days I have developed an infection in one of the surgical areas. More troubling is that I have a lot of swelling in my neck and tongue. I am now on amoxicillin and ibuprofen but the swelling is continuing to get worse. What should I do?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that swelling in neck and tongue after dental work is due to extreme infection at the surgical site..
It seems that you have Inflammation and swelling in the lymph nodes leading to swelling in neck..

If the swelling is progressing then you need to consult an Emergency Room or an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and a Steroid shot along with antibiotic shot will be given to you for faster resolution as well as do cool compresses over the swelling..
Continue taking antibiotics and painkillers so that it gets healed faster..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
